Bharatpur is a city and newly created Municipal Corporation in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Located in the Brij region, Bharatpur was once considered to be impregnable and unbeatable. The city is situated 180 km south of India’s capital, New Delhi, 178 km from Rajasthan’s capital Pink City Jaipur, 55 km west of Agra and 34 km from Lord Krishna’s birthplace Mathura The city has an average elevation of 183 metres (600 ft) and is also known as “Lohagarh” and the “Eastern Gateway to Rajasthan” It is famous for Keoladeo National Park ( A UNESCO’s World Heritage Site).Bharatpur lies on the Golden Tourism Triangle of Delhi–Jaipur–Agra and hence a large number of national and international tourists visit Bharatpur every year.

Lohagarh Fort (Iron fort) is constructed by Bharatpur Jat rulers. Maharaja Suraj Mal used all his power and wealth to a good cause, and built numerous forts and palaces across his kingdom, The inaccessible Lohagarh fort could withstand repeated attacks of British forces led by Lord Lake in 1805 when they laid siege for over six weeks. Monuments in the fort include are Kishori Mahal, Mahal Khas and Kothi Khas. Moti Mahal and towers like Jawahar Burj and Fateh Burj were erected to commemorate the victory over the Mughals and the British army. The Gateway has paintings of huge elephants

 

Keoladeo National Park or Keoladeo Ghana National Park formerly known as the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is a famous avifauna sanctuary that hosts thousands of birds, especially during the winter season. and is a mosaic of dry grasslands, woodlands, woodland swamps and wetlands. These diverse habitats are home to 366 bird species It is also a major tourist centre with scores of ornithologists arriving here in the hibernal season. It was declared a protected sanctuary in 1971. It is also a World Heritage Site.

Ganga Temple is one of the most beautiful temples of Bharatpur, the Ganga Mandir is considered to be a great architectural piece and owing to its central location within the city. It is dedicated to Goddess Ganga (one of the largest river in India).the River and is a beautiful blend of Rajputana, Mughal and South Indian architecture. The walls and pillars have intricate carvings and this temple is definitely worth a watch. Many tourists are able to appreciate its beauty.

Mathura is a sacred city in Uttar Pradesh 42 Kilometer/ 1Hrs Drive, northern India. The deity Lord Krishna is said to have been born on the site of Sri Krishna Janma Bhoomi, a Hindu temple. Dotting the Yamuna River are 25 ghats (flights of steps down to the water), of which Vishram Ghat is considered the holiest. Sati Burj is a 16th-century memorial tower. Dwarkadhish Temple has a carved entrance and a black-marble idol of Lord Krishna.

Government Museum was founded by then collector of the Mathura district, Sir F.S. Growse in 1874. The museum houses artifacts pottery, sculptures, paintings, and coins primarily from in and around Mathura, plus discoveries made by noted colonial archaeologists like Alexander Cunningham, F. S. Growse, and Fuhrer The museum is famous for ancient sculptures of the Mathura school dating from 3rd century BC to 12th century AD., during Kushan Empire and Gupta Empire. today it is one of the leading museums of Uttar Pradesh.The Government of India issued a postage stamp on October 9, 1974 on the centenary of the museum.
